She is currently a professor at Florida State University and has authored several books. "People were not answering their phones," Rachael Cobb, a political science professor at Suffolk University, told CNBC. Polarization and technology are among the obstacles that pollsters cite as complicating the task of taking accurate voter surveys. As a result, over the past several election cycles, polling organizations have made some major mistakes.

Ron DeSantis told donors and supporters at a private retreat last weekend that he plans to help raise money for Donald Trump's presidential campaign, according to three sources familiar with the matter. "He did say it in front of a group of people at the Hard Rock," a DeSantis adviser told NBC News. "I would say the majority in the room would now be willing to help Trump," a DeSantis bundler who was at the recent meeting said. "I know where there are DeSantis supporters all over Texas and all over the country that will want to help President Trump.

A group of Adobe employees are upset over the company’s decision to host its MAX annual conference in Florida, citing the state’s “hostile” laws against marginalized groups. Earlier this month, more than 500 Adobe employees signed an internal petition demanding the company reconsider the location of the annual conference, scheduled to take place in Miami later this year. As company leaders reiterated their commitment to Miami for this year’s event, some Adobe employees took to the Slack channel to express their dismay. “I’m shocked and disappointed at the lack of consideration in that call,” one of the employees wrote in the internal Slack channel. "Adobe MAX is a celebration of our community and a platform to showcase the incredible impact that creativity has around the world.

(Reuters) - U.S. presidential contender Nikki Haley has enjoyed a bump in support among voters and donors over the last four months, and is now the lone challenger to former President Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination. She is the daughter of two immigrants from India who ran a clothing store in rural South Carolina, and has spoken occasionally about the discrimination her family faced. She took on leadership roles in several business organizations before winning a seat in the South Carolina state legislature in 2004. Haley also appointed Tim Scott, then a U.S. representative from South Carolina, to the U.S. Senate in 2012. Digital World’s share price spiked 88% to 19-month highs on Monday alone. Since Trump’s landslide victory in the Iowa caucuses on January 15, Digital World shares have more than tripled. That in turn drives the share price even higher, creating further losses for short-sellers. Jay Ritter, a finance professor at the University of Florida, expressed shock at the stock spike for Digital World. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dropped out of the GOP presidential race on Sunday. The one-time rival to Trump used a purported Winston Churchill quote in his announcement video. According to the International Churchill Society, the quote is fake. Ron DeSantis ended his 2024 presidential campaign on Sunday and endorsed former President Donald Trump. Much like his disappointing campaign itself, arguably one of the worst in history, DeSantis' video announcing the suspension missed the mark by including an apparently fake Winston Churchill quote.

Polls indicate New Hampshire offers Haley her best chance for a win, while DeSantis, polling a distant third, is already looking ahead to South Carolina. While Tuesday's primary result is expected to be narrower, the latest polls of likely New Hampshire GOP primary voters show Trump leading Haley by double digits. They have been joined in recent days by a growing number of Trump's one time Republican primary rivals — Nebraska Gov. In New Hampshire, Haley is right: She and Trump are the top two candidates by far in the polls, with DeSantis a distant third. Days away from the New Hampshire primary, DeSantis' campaign is already shifting resources to South Carolina, while still holding some events in New Hampshire.

Opinion: Trump is a cultural phenomenon too

CNN —Former President Donald Trump is a cultural phenomenon. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, have been unable to shake the loyalty of voters to Trump. To understand Trump, however, it is also important to recognize that he has become a cultural phenomenon within large swaths of the GOP. To be sure, Trump is not the first president to command strong cultural currency with voters that goes beyond traditional political attachments. Yet there is no president who has devoted the same kind of attention to marketing himself as a cultural phenomenon as Trump.

It is freezing out, so we’re putting on the mittens and the hat and talking to my colleague Michelle Goldberg, who’s been following the race. I mean, this is going to be the third consecutive election in which Republicans, barring some spectacular turn of events, nominate Donald Trump. And so it’s just all really, really boring. I think it’s already maybe irreversible in the Republican Party. But, at the same time, I just think that — imagine what it will be like to see Donald Trump inaugurated again.

The New Hampshire primary comes eight days after Iowa's Republican caucuses, which former President Donald Trump dominated. The New Hampshire primary will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 23, with the precise hours dependent on the voting location. That means the New Hampshire primary will serve purely as a barometer of support for the Democrats in the race. But New Hampshire state law requires it to host the first primary, and the Republican-controlled state government declined to make any legislative change to its primary date. Democratic President Joe Biden is running for reelection but will not be on the ballot because of the primary date dispute.

No surprise then, that Haley's presidential campaign website features a "Record of Results" tab with more than a dozen subtopics. The competitionTypically, a presidential campaign makes it as easy as possible for the public to learn what the candidate would do if elected. But a curious voter who visited Haley's campaign website would need to navigate through press clips and TV appearances to find one. CNBC reached out to Haley's campaign to ask why they do not have a comprehensive policy agenda on the campaign site. The link revealed something unexpected: The document did not appear under any of the sections into which Haley's campaign site was divided, like "News," or "About Nikki" or "Action Center."

The Trump Voters in Swing States Who Are Returning to the Fold

To try to understand his enduring appeal, Reuters spoke to five Trump supporters in five general election battleground states: Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Trump currently leads Democratic President Joe Biden in several swing state general election polls, suggesting he will be highly competitive in a likely re-match next November. None are full-blown "election deniers" backing Trump's false claims that he, and not Biden, won the 2020 election. The second issue that swung Ruiz back behind Trump was the multiple criminal charges against him. Johnson likes Trump's tough stance on migration, and believes Trump will slow the crossings and deport as many migrants as feasibly possible.

Trump: I Won't Be a Dictator if I Become U.S. President Again

Other than day one," Trump said when asked to deny he would become a "dictator" if he wins the November election. Trump, seeking a second White House term in a likely election re-match with Democratic President Joe Biden, has frequently promised "retribution" on political opponents if he gains power again. Trump was U.S. president between 2017 and 2021, and has refused to concede that he lost to Biden in the 2020 election. Trump will skip the event, as he has done for the three previous Republican debates. Biden has repeatedly warned that Trump is a threat to democracy, and that a second Trump term could usher in an unprecedented and dangerous age of American autocracy.

It found the board was "inverted to serve Disney," which held voting control of the prior board of supervisors. The Central Florida Oversight Board will meet Wednesday to vote whether to accept the report, which was prepared for the board by a group of experts. In what Disney described as retaliation, the Florida legislature in February replaced the old board with a new Central Florida Oversight District, whose five supervisors are handpicked by DeSantis. In April, Disney sued Florida in federal court, claiming DeSantis and his allies of "weaponizing" state government to punish Disney for exercising its free speech rights. The DeSantis-appointed oversight board counter-sued in state court, seeking to void the "backroom deals" favorable to the entertainment giant.

In a statement, Never Back Down spokesperson Jess Szymanski said long-time DeSantis ally Scott Wagner would now take over as CEO. Ron DeSantis' campaign is announcing the completion of a longtime campaign pledge Saturday: touring all of Iowa's 99 counties, a milestone for a campaign that has devoted significant resources to the first-in-the-nation contest. On paper, DeSantis has made significant strides in running a traditionally successful Iowa campaign, racking up influential endorsements and dedicating significant time, personnel and financial resources to the state. And while the DeSantis campaign, with significant super PAC help, has stayed focused on Iowa, it remains unclear just what the traditional Iowa playbook counts for in this unusual modern campaign against Trump. "Winning an Iowa caucus requires a strong combination of outworking and out-organizing the competition and that's been the Ron DeSantis model. Inside the sprint to the caucusesStill, the DeSantis playbook in Iowa hardly stops at the "Full Grassley."

Trump, according to aggregates of national opinion polls, holds about a 50-percentage-point lead over her, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also in the mix. Trump also has large leads in early Republican nominating states such as Iowa and New Hampshire. The polls show her tied with DeSantis in Iowa and surpassing him in New Hampshire. Should Haley's rise continue, she would likely face a full onslaught of attacks from the Trump campaign, pro-Trump social media influencers, and related super PAC spending groups.
